ELEC70086 Topics in Control Systems

Lecturer(s): Dr Imad Jaimoukha; Dr Giordano Scarciotti; Dr Fei Teng

Aims

The module offers a selection of seminars related to Control and Optimisation which are not covered by the syllabus of other modules and which have the purpose of going deeper into specific aspects of the discipline. You will learn to solve problems and implement computer-based solutions through coursework related to the topics of the seminars. You will choose a selection of 3 topics out of those presented in the seminars and submit the associated coursework. The range of topics covered may change from year to year and is frequently updated.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module you will be able to: 1) Detect specific problems arising in the field of Control and Optimisation 2) Formulate rigorous models for the solution of such problems 3) Devise computer-based solutions to problems arising in the field of Control and Optimisation 4) Validate the solutions proposed by means of simulation software 5) Assess the benefits and limitations of the solutions proposed

Syllabus

You will learn about specific topics in Control and Optimisation not covered by the syllabus of other modules. The range of subjects may change from year to year. Recent subjects covered include: Model Reduction, Control of Multiagent Systems, Fault Detection and Isolation, Soft robotics, Stochastic optimisation in power systems, Convex relaxations for optimization.
