Aims

Global economics is a key contemporary topic, which also bears on a range of pressing political, social and environmental issues. This module provides a comprehensive treatment of the key contemporary issues in global economics and the leading models deployed by global economics institutions such as the WTO, United Nations, IMF and World Bank.

It will equip you with the conceptual tools to critique and enhance these models and institutions. The module also provides an opportunity to conduct policy analysis of a global economics issue.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module you will be better able to:

Evaluate alternative schools of thought on global economics
Explain the key issues in global economics
Present individual work to peers and respond to constructive feedback from facilitator and other learners
Apply theory and principles to analyse a key policy issue and produce a reasoned recommendation for policy intervention
